How you release makes all the difference.
“ㅃ” is a tensed sound.
You press your lips tightly together and release them.
You actually do this in English more than you think.
happy, happen, simple, bumper…
Each /p/ comes right after closed lips, so tension builds up before the release.
Now try: speaking and spoil.
Air flows through a tight space for /s/, then you block it fast to say /p/.
So it goes like /sp/.
That’s tension just like Korean “ㅃ.”
Now check these minimal pairs:
- 방 (room) vs. 빵 (bread)
- 불 (fire) vs. 뿔 (horn)
- 벼 (rice plant) vs. 뼈 (born)
- 벌벌 (tremblingly) vs. 뻘뻘 (drippingly)
You’re not starting from zero.
Your mouth already know how.
